Beautiful- Christina Aguilera
Lyrics

(mmhm hmmm)
(ohh yeah)
(mmaa ahhh)

Everyday is so wonderful, then suddenly, its hard to breath
Now and then I get insecure, from all the pain
I’m so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can’t bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes words can’t bring me down (ohhh nooo)
So don’t you bring me down today

(mmmhmm mmm)

To all your friends you’re delirious
So consumed in all your doom…. (oohh mmm)
Trying hard to fill that emptiness,
The pieces gone, left the puzzle undone,
Aint that the way it is?

You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can’t bring you down (ohhh noo)
you are beautiful in every single way
Yes words can’t bring you down (ohhh noo)
So don’t you bring me down today

No matter what we do (No matter what we do)
No matter what we say (No matter what we say)
We’re the song inside the tune (yeah yeah oh yeaaahhh)
Full of beautiful mistakes
And everywhere we go (And everywhere we go)
the sun will always shine (the sun will always always shine….)
And tomorrow we might awake
on the other side

‘Cause we are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes words won’t bring us down (ohhh noo)
we are beautiful in every single way
Yes words can’t bring us down (ohhh noo)
So don’t you bring me down today

Yeaah eeeeeeee yeaahh eah Dont you bring me down mmmm, today

Skin Deep- Keke Palmer

***SONG/VIDEO LINK UNAVAILABLE***

Skin Deep- Keke Palmer
Lyrics

What up
What up
Listen

What you starin’ in the mirror for
Tellin’ yourself ya ugly
What you wearing those high heels for
When they’re torturing your feet (you know they’re killing you)
Why you puttin’ all that make-up on
Hiding your pretty face (Uh uh)
Blowin’ all your money in that salon
Tryin’ to find ya place (no)

In this world you fit in
Or you’re out and you’re made
To believe
That this is what it’s all about

And don’t you know
Real beauty shines from within
It’s what you wearing under your skin
Your perfect imperfections
Led you in the wrong direction
And made you think
That you are incomplete
But looks are only skin deep
oh oh yeah yeah

Why you flippin through the magazine
Trying to be those girls (well stop it)
Gettin’ all frustrated
But it’s not the end of the world (its superficial)
So what if you can’t get into a size three
You’re beautiful to me (beautiful to me)
Stop trying to be Tyra’s top model
Girl go and find your own way to follow

In this world you fit in
Or you’re out and you’re made
To believe
That this is what it’s all about

And don’t you know
Real beauty shines from within
It’s what you wearing under your skin
Your perfect imperfections
Led you in the wrong direction
And made you think
That you are incomplete
But looks are all your skin deep

From the side walk
To the boardwalk
To the cat walk
Don’t talk
About the way you walk
But it’s not your fault
So if the girls talk,
Watch you like a hawk
They love to hate
And they can’t wait
To get inside
And make you cry
Cry, cry, cry, cry
Just let ’em know
That you made ya own
Now being you is not all wrong
Do ya thang
Let your light shine
They’ll come around
In God’s time

And if they don’t
Just let it be
When they stop being shallow
Then they’ll see
Girl, I’m tellin’ you (Come on!)

Just be yourself!

In this world you fit in
Or you’re out and you’re made
To believe yeah
That this is what it’s all about

And don’t you know
Real beauty shines from within
It’s what you wearing under your skin
Your perfect imperfections
Led you in the wrong direction
And made you think
That you are incomplete
But looks are only skin deep
Oh Ohh
Yeah

Stupid Girls- Pink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR4yQFZK9YM

Stupid Girls- Pink
Lyrics

Stupid girl, stupid girls, stupid girls
Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don’t wanna be a stupid girl

Go to Fred Segal, you’ll find them there
Laughing loud so all the little people stare
Looking for a daddy to pay for the champagne
(Drop a name)
What happened to the dreams of a girl president
She’s dancing in the video next to 50 Cent
They travel in packs of two or three
With their itsy bitsy doggies and their teeny-weeny tees
Where, oh where, have the smart people gone?
Oh where, oh where could they be?

Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don’t wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don’t wanna be a stupid girl

(Break it down now)
Disease’s growing, it’s epidemic
I’m scared that there ain’t a cure
The world believes it and I’m going crazy
I cannot take any more
I’m so glad that I’ll never fit in
That will never be me
Outcasts and girls with ambition
That’s what I wanna see
Disasters all around
World despaired
Their only concern
Will they **** up my hair

Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don’t wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don’t wanna be a stupid girl

[Interlude]
Oh my god you guys, I totally had more than 300 calories
That was so not sexy, no
Good one, can I borrow that?
[Vomits]
I WILL BE SKINNY

(Do ya thing, do ya thing, do ya thing)
(I like this, like this, like this)
Pretty will you **** me girl, silly as a lucky girl
Pull my head and suck it girl, stupid girl!
Pretty would you **** me girl, silly as a lucky girl
Pull my head and suck it girl, stupid girl!

Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, stupid girl!

Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don’t wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don’t wanna be a stupid girl

Video- India Arie
Lyrics

Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don’t
Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won’t
Depend on how the wind blows I might even paint my toes
It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul

I’m not the average girl from your video
and I ain’t built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I’m not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be the india arie

When I look in the mirror and the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it’s supposed to be
And I know our creator didn’t make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, my lips, my eyes; I’m lovin’ what I see

I’m not the average girl from your video
and I ain’t built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I’m not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be the
india arie

Am I less of a lady if I don’t wear pantyhose?
My mama said a lady ain’t what she wears but, what she knows
But, I’ve drawn a conclusion, it’s all an illusion, confusion’s the name of the
game
A misconception, a vast deception
Something’s gotta change
but,Don’t be offended this is all my opinion
ain’t nothing that I’m sayin law
This is a true confession of a life learned lesson I was sent here to share with
y’all
So get in where you fit in go on and shine
Clear your mind, now’s the time
Put your salt on the shelf
Go on and love yourself
‘Cuz everything’s gonna be all right

I’m not the average girl from your video
and I ain’t built like a supermodel
But, I Learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I’m not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be the india arie

Keep your fancy drinks and your expensive minks
I don’t need that to have a good time
Keep your expensive car and your caviar
All I need is my guitar
Keep your Kristal and your pistol
I’d rather have a pretty piece of crystal
Don’t need your silicone I prefer my own
What God gave me is just fine

I’m not the average girl from your video
and I ain’t built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I’m not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be india arie

Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful- Kellie Pickler

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI2NyfV9N3g

Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful- Kellie Pickler
Lyrics

Hey little girl with your tangled hair, your tattered clothes,
You’re fifteen and you’re about to bloom just like a rose.
You’re wishing that you had designer jeans
Like the ones you see in magazines.
Now I know you’d give anything just to fit in
But your worth ain’t on a price tag, it comes from within.

Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Just the way you are!

Hey there little homecoming queen in that back seat.
I’ll bet his brown eyes are promising you everything!
And I know you want to be just like your friends,
But he’ll still love you if you don’t give in.
But if those girls were being honest that have been where you’re at,
I’d bet they’d tell you they wish they had their innocence back.

Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Just the way you are!

So if he left you for a girl that could be your twin
If you were 28 again,
Let him go, let him fly, keep your head up,
Get on with your life!

Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Just the way you are!

Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Just the way you are!
Oh, just the way you are!

Skin Deep- Keke Palmer

This song is a representation of the saying “beauty is only skin deep”. Keke Palmer shows her belief that society’s high expectations for women’s appearances are highly superficial. Like all other songs on the benefit CD, the artist emphasizes that girls should just be themselves and should not cover up their natural beauty with artificiality (“why you puttin’ on all that make-up hiding your pretty face?”). Palmer also encourages young women to focus on what is important and to not obsess with “imperfections” which are only markers of individualism that are constructed as negative in the media (“your perfect imperfections led you in the wrong direction”) especially through shows like America’s Next Top Model (“stop trying to be Tyra’s top model, go girl and find your own way to follow”).  This note on distractions is similar to Pink’s song and clearly many artists share a sentiment that if women were to have more self-confidence, fewer insecurities and the ability to stop comparing themselves with other women, they would lead better lives. Moreover, if this were to be the case, much more could be accomplished in the world because there would not be wasted time or energy on shallow “stuff” such as designer clothing and expensive trips to the salon.
